THESE ARE OUR CATS! THIS IS MY BLOG!

Rosie and Charley are siblings and best friends. We adopted them
from friends who rescued their little family.

Bugsy showed up on our street on a hot summer day - tiny, hungry, and as it turns out, very lucky.
He thinks Charley is his mum!

There is also the occasional litter of foster kittens . . .

These felines have been kind enough to share the house with us.
We thought we might share them with you.

Just Kitten Candids

New videos are posted on YouTube.  Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2rLf1BQXsM for playtime fun.

CHOW TIME!  After an hour of play, these kits are ready to mow down some RC Babycat 35 (code for over-priced kitten chow - but they LOVE it). Check out their ears  - pushed back so they can seriously tuck in!

Kitten Portraits

Just so everyone can get to know them all a little better.  What we call them is just for fun - they'll get their "forever" names when they're adopted. : )

This is Purrl, aka Fuzz Muffin, formerly known as Buster before we could really - ahem - tell.  Sorry, darling!

This is Chester (aka Mungojerry), for the white tuft on his chest. He appears to be, and occasionally acts like, part silver-backed gorilla.

We call this little girl Belly, for the white patch on her tummy.

This one is Little Belly, with just a tiny white spot on her tummy.  Not too imaginative, I know, but right now I can't tell the black kits apart until I flip them over!

The long-haired calico kitteness formerly known as Pru Two is now called Clementine, or "Ow, that hurts!", since she likes to taste everything and everyone. She's so adorable that we don't mind.

This little girl, shown with her mom and litter-mates, doesn't have any white on her belly, or a nickname.  Any suggestions? "Midnight" is soooo overdone!

And last but not least, the spitfire of the litter, Little Cesar (aka Rumpleteaser and Donkey Kong).  Jerrod, this one's yours!

Kids and Kittens!

Last week, Sara and her family were here from Washington State for a little California sunshine. Of course the grandkids were excited to have kittens to play with and cuddle. Anthony, Kaylynn and Lily were very gentle with their furry playmates.

This kitten seems as enthralled as Kaylynn is!

Anthony and the Little Gray were buddies, and the kitten got the nickname "Donkey Kong".

They even watched "Toy Story" together.

Kaylynn and kitten show mutual admiration for each others' lovely hair.
Did someone say "Here kitty kitty"? The kittens loved climbing and playing on Anthony and Kaylynn, who didn't mind the little love bites and playful paws.

Lily and her great-grandma Delores share a cuddle with the fluffy grey and white. The kids nicknamed this one "Buster" - but it turns that Buster is a girl kitten! (It was hard to tell with all that fur.)

LOOK AT THESE DARLINGS!
The kittens are getting more mobile and more purr-sonable all the time. They have the run of the study and are making full use of the space. They’re still not quite sturdy, and they often get first-gear mixed up with reverse, but ready to roll – sometimes quite literally! Check out videos at http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kellyskittehs&aq=f . Bonus video – Charley and the Mousie – posted as well!

UNCLE CHARLEY

More hands make more-socialized kittens – volunteers needed! Angela came by on Sunday to fulfill her kitten-cuddling rounds. Pru Two took quite a liking to her.

MAMA MIA!

She has all boys, it seems, including this extraordinarily striped fellow. Look at that zebra tummy!

More kittens! WHUUUUT?

But not at my house - the nursery is full! My friend Marilyn heard about kittens born a few weeks ago in someone's shed. She contacted the propery owner and was able to get the mom - a sweet, affectionate stray - and her five kittens. There is a limited window of time when kittens can be tamed and socialized so they can be adopted, so they are lucky ones.

Bath time!

They were so cute - and so dirty! They had fleas, too, which can be deadly for young kittens. Lucky for them (and us), Maxine the Kitten Maven was there to lend a hand and expert advice.

Maxine shows us how the pros do it!

I NO WANNA HAS BATH!!

We bathed the kittens and got the fleas off of them, swaddled and dried them in cozy towels, and they settled in to Marilyn's spare bathroom for a life of luxury (considering they were born under a pallet).

Marilyn and one of her sleepy babies.

Look! Clean, warm, and fluffy kittens!

Mama cat has lovely green eyes and a little bobbed tail. Her kittens are two light ginger tabbies, one dark tabby, one even darker (and the teeniest kit), and a white/butterscotch siamese-y marked one. More pix to come, from both kitty families!

Rosie inspects the new toilet . . .

. . . to make sure the trap is fully glazed (important!). Since installation this past weekend, they've also been watching each flush to ensure it's only 2.6 gallons. Be waterwise!

Seven little kittens, all in a row . . .

The kittens are developing so fast - every time I get good photos, they're out of date by the next day! They are starting to walk and climb and play - and have discovered that paws are fun to chew on. Several new videos are posted on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kellyskittehs&aq=f . They wake up when they hear someone come in to visit and are ready to play!

They grow up so fast!

Last week, Julie and Marilyn came to visit and help me with the distasteful chore of cuddling and playing with the kittens (jk). Now that they're getting around, a couple rabble-rousers tried to make a run, okay, a stumble for it. "These baby bumpers can't hold us - there's a big world to be explored." Or as Julie put it, "There's trouble to be had!"

My Interior Decorators

Meanwhile, Rosie and Charley are helping with the bathroom remodel. I wish one of them had spoken up about the color of paint I chose - it looked horrible! Oh wait - aren't cats colorblind?
We just started over and they looked in now and then to make sure we were doing it right . . .

Kittens are getting bigger!

Not much time for kitten-watching this weekend, but I snapped a couple pix and posted some videos on YouTube (search "Pru's kittens"). They're still pretty wobbly and uncoordinated, but definitely getting more cat-like. Look how much bigger they are than just a week ago! The black babes still look like little bear cubs, and the grays seem to be the most assertive. Pru Too is demure and small, but always gets her place at the table.
